Lotto Tower Brussels

Photographed June 2002

The Lotto tower has been the home of many squatters. Living the transitory life, they have left behind dreadful odors and chaos in their wake.

Cardboard Lotto signs were used to make beds; the leaflets and stickers to shade the windows. There are literally tons of expired, invalidated, abandoned lotto forms. Every outdated form was a possible ticket to eternal wealth. They are now used for toilet paper.

It's strange to think that the former headquarters of an institution, organizing games of chance and making millionaires every week, now houses the poorest in our society.
