Noisy Castle

Photographed in 2007

Hidden deep in the woods, guarded by foresters and hunters, stands an old castle, the ravishing Château de Noisy.
The long climb to the castle on the hill was not without risk: showers of bird shot, aimed at unsuspecting pheasants, whistled past my ears.

I tried not to become an (innocent) victim, and chased away the pheasants around me.

Before it was left abandoned in the 80's, the chateau was a holiday camp for railroad children. Inside is a mixture of (faded) glory and the atmosphere of the holiday camp.
Downstairs used to be the home of the house steward with the majestic stairway and the “throne room” where the kids were not allowed.
