The old Marie Thumas factory, along the canal in Leuven, no longer produces peas and carrots in cans. Opening Saturday, October 8th from 20h. We'll have a drink and a chat, Don't be late! The exhibition will be open on weekends from 9/10 till 13/11 2011 daily from 14-19h.. |

176 pages, 31 x 24 cm (12" x 9.4"), hardcover edited by Lannoo, with Dutch and English texts.
It covers photos taken from 2007-2010 with many new reports from great discoveries in New Jersey, Detroit, former Eastern Germany, France and Belgium.
The book's second (and usually last) edition is out now. Don't wait till it's sold out.

For those of you who missed last year's exhibition in Antwerp there is a selection of around 30 photos on display at Tastenhoye (Contemporary Interior Design) in Overijse.
It's actually a nice change to see the photos in a livingroom environment instead of the usual gallery or exhibition room...

I'd like to invite you all to the Salvator house.
This centuries old (and slightly derelict) historical mansion in the city center of Antwerp is the perfect place to let you experience my latest discoveries.
After 3 years of intensive shooting, having travelled to New Jersey and Detroit, Northern France, former Eastern Germany and Belgium, I'm ready to show my new work.
The exhibition shows 40 large format photos, printed on metal dibond plates. No frames, no glass, just plain metal and ink.
They're big, modern and ... WOW
Available at the exhibition : the new book "abandoned places 2". (roughly A4+ size, 192 pages, hardcover)
It covers last 3 years' reports with many stories and photos. If I'm present I'd be happy to sign it.

P H O T O - E X H I B I T I O N - " Leerlooierij Schotte: HEDEN versus VERLEDEN " During last year's cold winter days I made a last portrait of this tannery before its planned reconversion. 35 large format photos are now on display at the city museum of Aalst.
The opening is on saturday, October 3rd at 15h. Everybody is welcome.

It's been quiet around the abandoned places website for a couple of months now. The exhibitions and the publication of the book have taken a lot of my time. There is also the growing pressure to keep the beautiful buildings away from the internet to protect them from antique-robbing tourists. For Du Parc all help comes too late ... welcome to the playground of vandals and thieves. |
